THE Roadshow Story

Michael Brody had the good fortune to be born in the American West. 

Two of his three most life-defining moments were when he read that members of the band The Doors met at film school in Los Angeles, and when a Canadian taught him to write sonnets on a motorcoach, South Island, New Zealand.

 

These revelations brought him to the University of Colorado where he studied filmmaking, creative writing, and philosophy - money well spent as he still practices those arts today. He has written a number of for-hire screenplays, and in 2010 he wrote, directed, financed, produced, and edited the feature film, Document, which is set for re-release, summer 2026.

 

In 2011, Michael co-founded Crested Butte Film Festival and served as its Artistic and Programming Director for fifteen years. During that time, he curated and presented over 1500 films and realized the joy and importance of sharing these films and talking about them with an enthusiastic audience. 

 

Through his success with Crested Butte Film Festival, Michael became aware of the ever-growing gap between core film fest audiences and the general public. Roadshow Pictures was created to bring films to people who were led to believe film festivals weren't meant for them, or who were kept from them by economic, cultural, or language barriers. Roadshow Pictures endeavors to change that reality by bringing films directly to rural, underserved communities through partnerships with local arts and culture advocates. Michael believes that festival-quality films should be shared with everyone, and Roadshow Pictures is his vehicle for bringing that into the common place. 

 

Beyond film, Michael's loves are his daughters, Gia, spirituality, coffee, sunsets, pale ales, the desert, and swimming in lakes, rivers, and oceans - the beach being his ideal lifestyle. He is currently writing two screenplays, one about the ocean, one about the sun, and an episodic drama that will hopefully hold nearly all he has written.
